In-Home Aide (Care giving)

Students interested in helping others are encouraged to learn the introductory skills of helping another individual perform Daily Living skills in their home, nursing facility or assisted living arrangement.  Basic learning modules include: learning the purposes of being an in-home aide or caregiver; building skills in nutrition, feeding, preparing a light meal; importance of and how to wash hands correctly; helping with mobility; learning how to do light housekeeping; learning about chronic illnesses and the importance of companionship.  Students who strive to be a certified caregiver in California can further their job goals at a community college or Job training center.
